CT Real Estate Reaching New Records!

Real Estate News and Figures
for 2004

by Christina Tracy

Connecticut Real Estate New Record Highs

As interest rates remain just above historic lows the real estate prices in the Lower Fairfield area soared upward in 2004. We have had a low inventory and a high demand for the properties! Many first time buyers are entering into the housing market and this is creating a high demand for condominiums. Our neighboring Westchester County homeowners are buying in Connecticut because the New York taxes are considerably higher than many of the Connecticut towns, in addition we are attracting many buyers who live in New York City. I have many buyers
who are looking to move from Manhattan because they are discouraged by the Manhattan real estate market. The bidding wars and the small sizes of the coops and condominums, coupled with high common charges are the biggest factors that are driving people out of New York City. As one of my clients said, "At the end of the day, it all comes down to quality of life"!
